Course Description Syntax is a branch of linguistics that deals with sentence structures in human language. This course provides students with an introduction to modern syntactic theory, and three fundamental aspects: syntactic structure, the lexicon, and syntactic movement. The aim is to cultivate students’ interest and develop students’ skills at identifying and solving syntactic problems. In addition, the course will help students to understand the similarities and differences between Chinese and English syntax.
