Course Description This course introduces students to a variety of reading strategies to improve their comprehension and critical analysis of academic and authentic texts. Students will explore different genres and topics, practice identifying main ideas and supporting details, and engage in discussions that foster critical thinking and deeper textual understanding.

Learning Objectives:
This course is designed to help students develop and strengthen their English reading abilities, with a particular focus on critical reading and critical thinking skills. By engaging with a range of texts across genres and topics, students will:
1. Enhance general reading proficiency by building vocabulary, improving reading fluency, and practicing comprehension strategies.
2. Develop critical reading skills through identifying arguments, evaluating evidence, analyzing rhetorical strategies, and distinguishing between fact and opinion.
3. Foster critical thinking abilities by engaging in discussions, written reflections, and analytical tasks that require interpretation, evaluation, and synthesis of ideas from readings.
4. Cultivate independent reading habits and apply strategies for understanding and responding to complex texts in academic and real-world contexts.
Through these goals, the course aims to promote deeper engagement with texts and equip students with the skills necessary for academic success and informed citizenship.
