Course Description | English Communication and Expression is a foundational course designed to enhance first-year university students’ competence in both spoken and written English through the integration of communicative and academic language practices. Grounded in principles of communicative language teaching (CLT) and process-oriented writing instruction, the course aims to cultivate students’ ability to articulate ideas clearly, coherently, and appropriately in diverse academic and social contexts. Through a range of pedagogically informed activities—including guided discussions, structured presentations, collaborative dialogues, reflective writing tasks, and peer feedback—students will develop critical skills in fluency, coherence, audience awareness, and cross-cultural communication. Special emphasis is placed on interactional strategies, rhetorical organization, and vocabulary development to support effective self-expression and comprehension. By the end of the course, students are expected to demonstrate increased confidence and autonomy in using English for academic engagement, intercultural exchange, and professional preparation. |
