Course Description The effects of climate change, political turmoil, public health, and economic underdevelopment are suffered most by vulnerable groups, especially those in the developing world. Loss of livelihood, impoverishment, migration, and deprivation of basic human rights are occurring on a large scale due to changes of nature environment or mismanagement. These issues are now categorized as “non-traditional security issues” in international relations. This course will introduce the major subjects of non-traditional security today and cases of sustainable development in Asia.

The course encompasses lecturing, presentations, speeches, and field trip. 6 sessions will be introduction of major subjects in non-traditional security. In addition there will be 2 field trips and a number of workshops on other cases of sustainable developments in Asia
Students are required to join in-class discussions, making presentations, attend assigned speeches and the field trip.
