NCHU Course Outline
Course Name (中) 材料力學(2369)
(Eng.) Mechanics of Materials
Offering Dept Department of Civil Engineering
Course Type Required Credits 4 Teacher CHIANG, YU-CHOU
Department Department of Civil Engineering/Undergraduate Language English Semester 2024-FALL
Course Description This course introduces stress and strain in loaded materials. Stress is how forces flow in materials and strain is how materials are stretched. When stress and strain exceed the material’s capacity, the material will break, which might cause a structure to collapse. Civil engineers must learn how to assess stress and strain to prevent structures from such failures.
