Course Description The course is mainly designed to introduce the basic techniques and principles in language teaching. It aims at helping students in the Teacher Education program to be familiar with these principles and then they can apply these principles or teaching methods to their own lesson plans.
After each teaching principle or method has been introduced, students are asked to work with group members to apply the teaching principle or technique to their group teaching demonstration.
Students have to apply these teaching methods/principles to their teaching demonstrations at the end of the semester. Students are encouraged to make good use of these techniques and principles and develop their personal teaching style in their future language teaching.

Evaluation
1.Class Performance (including attendance, participation, and preparation): 20%
a. 4 points will be deducted for each absence, and students cannot be absent for the class more than FOUR times, or they will get “0” from their class performance.
b. If students have to ask for a leave, they have to inform the teacher that they cannot come to the class via email (writing down their student id number and name), by asking their classmates to tell the teacher, or by telling the teacher in person in the following week.

3. Personal Introduction/Presentation on Teaching Methods: 10%
4. Group Oral Demonstrations & Discussions: 15%
5. Personal Teaching Demonstration: 25%
6. Self-Study(Evaluate One Classmate’s Lesson Plan): 5%

※Personal/Group Oral Presentations on Teaching Methods: (20-25 minutes)
Students are supposed to work with their group members to deliver an English oral presentation on one teaching method or two. They have to make a power-point file to deliver that teaching method and upload their power-point file onto iLearning before their presentations. The presentation will be about 20 minutes and be delivered in English. The other groups have to raise some questions to the presentation groups, and the presentation group is responsible for answering the questions.
※Group Teaching Demonstrations: (15 -20 minutes)
Students are asked to work with their group members to select one teaching method or two to demonstrate how to teach listening, speaking, reading, & writing by using that teaching method. They are supposed to write group lesson plan and submit it to the teacher two weeks before their group teaching demonstration.
※In-Class Discussion:
Students are asked to work with their group members to do some in-class activities, or discussions about each topic and teaching method in class.
※Personal Teaching Demonstration: (15 minutes)
Each student has to have their personal teaching demonstration about 10 minutes.
They can select one lesson from junior or senior high school textbooks and demonstrate it in 10 minutes.
They have to write their own lesson plan and submit their lesson plan to the teacher two week before their teaching demo and give one copy of their lesson plan to all of their classmates when they are having their teaching demonstration.
※Self-Study Week:
Students are supposed to give feedback to one of their classmates’ lesson plan online.
