The main objective of this course is to give students an overview of detective fiction a) as it has grown up in the United States, and b) as it has developed outside the US, from Englad to Argentina, Japan, and Korea. The goal is to establish a general idea of detective fiction, but also to suggest the idea of detective fiction as a genre highly suited to comparative analysis and an understanding of ideas about guilt, criminality and the law. |
