| Course Description |
This course is designed to equip college students—especially non-native English speakers—with essential skills in public speaking, academic communication, and professional presentation delivery. Through a combination of lectures, guided practice, peer feedback, and mini project-based learning, students will learn how to express ideas confidently, structure messages effectively, and deliver both informal and academic presentations with clarity and impact.
The course is divided into two major modules: Foundations of Public Speaking and Academic Presentations. Module 1 focuses on mastering the core elements of communication—confidence, structure, non-verbal skills, vocal delivery, and audience engagement. Students will experience step-by-step speech practices that build a strong foundation for effective public speaking in real-life contexts.
Module 2 transitions into the world of scholarly communication, helping students understand the structure and expectations of academic presentations. Students will learn how to design clear visual aids, simplify complex concepts, present research findings logically, and manage audience questions with professionalism. Throughout the course, students will practice turning ideas into compelling presentations while strengthening soft skills such as critical thinking, storytelling, collaboration, and adaptability. |
