Course Description | 本系列課程會簡介教育數據的常見格式,及如何在圖形化介面(GUI)中下指令操作這些數據。 雖然分析教育數據時可能收到 Excel 活頁簿(xlsx)格式的資料,但這些資料不見得一定要由 Excel 來分析。尤其 Excel 的列數上限約一百萬 [1],也沒有包含最新的 AI 分析工具,已無法回應大數據時代的資料處理需求。為了回應處理更大量資料的挑戰,Microsoft 提供了 Power BI 這個新的數據分析平台。為了使 Power BI 可以有效的處理百萬等級的數據,其不僅於設計時融入了資料庫的概念,能把滑鼠操作轉換為對應的 SQL 指令,還提供了 Copilot、Text Analytics、Vision、Azure Machine Learning 及支援 R 和 Python 執行… 等 AI 分析工具,幫助我們簡單方便的分析教育數據。 In the series of Database System (I), (II), and (III), we will introduce educational data sets, its common formats, and methods to handle these data via graphical user interfaces (GUI) and programs. While educational data might be delivered in Excel Workbook (xlsx) format, we don't have to analyze these data by Microsoft Excel. Especially, the maximum total number of rows in Excel is about 1 million [1] and Excel doesn't provide state-of-the-art AI technology. Lacking these and more key features, Excel is not as comprehensive for processing big data now-a-day as it was. To survive in big data era, Microsoft provides a new software, Power BI, which not only incorporates database ideas for million rows but also could compile mouse operations into SQL statements. Power BI also provide various AI tools including: copilot, text analytics, vision, Azure machine learning, and inserting R or Python in the workflow to help us analyze educational data more smoothly. |

本課程會從 Excel 的磨課師 [4]課程進行延伸,並試著用 𝖯𝗈𝗐𝖾𝗋 𝖡𝖨 專有的功能分析教育數據,及輔導學生實際操作練習。偏好閱讀實體課本及想進一步了解資料庫系統概念的同學可以參考 Introduction to Data Mining and Analytics [2]。 We will extend from my Excel MOOCS course [4] with more Power BI specific functions, and in class practices.
