Course Description This course aims to increase students’ interest in Modern European History and to cultivate students’ confidence in reading English materials. The course content nominally comprises three topics: Ancient Greek Humanism, Renaissance, and the French Revolution. They will reveal two conspicuous traditions of Modern European History, Ancient Greco-Roman spirits and Christianity. The teacher will introduce every topic before leading students to read selected English materials. Class attendance, small in-class assignments, and a brief final exam are requirements for students.
