Course Description This course is intended to refine undergraduate students’ English reading and writing skills for academic purposes. The aim of this course is twofold: The first objective is to increase students’ academic vocabulary and improve their reading strategies as well as critical thinking skills; and the second objective is to introduce to students the elements, structures, and techniques of academic writing. Instruction will be focused on the techniques of summarizing and paraphrasing to avoid plagiarism. Through the study and discussion of sample writing, students will be guided to practice various academic genres
