Course Description Introduction of organic chemistry concepts and applying them to construct new bio-releative materials. Classes include lectures and discussions.
(1) Amino acids, peptides, proteins and their biochemical and physical properties. (2) The synthesis of their derivatives, combinatorial chemistry, protein modification and the application of chemical synthetic enzymes. (3) Carbohydrates and biochemical properties. (4) Chemistry Chemical and oligosaccharide/polysaccharide chemical synthesis. (5) Spectroscopic identification of chemical structure.

To have basic organic chemistry concepts and apply them to chemical modification of biomedical materials.
Provide a basic understanding of the chemical properties of biomolecules and biomacromolecules. Students will learn about biological molecules such as amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Another focus will be on biophysical properties, synthesis and modification.
