Course Description This course is targeted at students with an intermediate level of English listening and reading ability. Students will acquire essential skills and strategies necessary for TOEIC tests, will enhance their grammar and vocabulary learning ability, and will familiarize themselves with TOEIC test format and test-taking strategies through practice tests.

**Some in-class quizzes will be given either online during class time. Please make sure you have a device large enough for reading long passages when taking online tests. Midterm and final exams will be paper-based.


Class Rules:
(1) Quizzes: No make-up quizzes will be given. 1-2 quiz scores will be excluded from your final grades, depending on the total number of quizzes given in this semester.
(2) Attendance policy: According to the academic regulations of our school, if you are absent for 12 or more class hours (including 12), you will not be eligible to take the final exam and will receive a zero as your total course score.
(3) Assignment: All assignments should be turned in on time, even when you are absent on the day of announcement. All the details will be posted on iLearning 3.0. Late assignments will NOT be accepted (due dates will be specified on iLearning).
(4) Midterm and final assessment: If you are not able to attend the exams, you must notify the instructor in advance and submit a sick leave request through the school system to be eligible for a make-up exam. Please note that the make-up exam will have different questions from the regular midterm and final exams.

Self-directed learning activities:
You may choose to attend one of the following activities and submit a written report (template available on ilearning) by June 18. If you choose to take an English proficiency exam, please ensure that the transcript issue date is before June 18.
1. Official English Score Test provided by the EMI Center.
2. BESTEP (培力英檢), sign up via the EMI Center before 3/06.
3. Official TOEIC Test (test taken after 2/17).
4. At least 2 English activities held on campus, such as contests, Think Tank, or Language Mix.
