Course Description 本課程將聚焦於動物施打疫苗後引發免疫反應的原理、疫苗設計與製 造的方式、疫苗在臨床應用上的方式與風險，同時分門別類地介紹不同的臨床獸醫領域會使用的疫苗種類及施打方式。 本課程將結合大二生理學、免疫學所學到的基礎知識，帶領同學了解在基本動物生理的運作方式之下，疫苗引發的連鎖生理與免疫反應。由於本課程亦涵蓋疫苗製程與設計，如何從無到有的設計一支有效的疫苗，循序漸進的從介紹不同疫苗的種類、製作方式與技術、疫苗組成成份設計與背後的生化原理，因此同學也會運用在大一、大二醫用生物化學課程所學 到的各項背景知識進行討論。除此之外，由於本門課程分門別類探討不同 動物物種經常使用的疫苗，例如犬貓等伴侶動物、豬雞牛羊等經濟動物、 甚至是圈養之非犬貓類野生動物等，而在了解疫苗的同時，例如探討某特定豬隻使用疫苗的同時，需要對該特定豬隻傳染病有一定的了解，因此本課程亦橫向連結了高年級各項動物疾病課程，更多地瞭解各項疾病與其防 治措施，例如豬病學、禽病學、獸醫傳染病學等等。 整體課程將學會疫苗種類背後的作用原理，再深入到疫苗給予方式的 評估，學會以科學的角度設計動物疫苗計劃，以及熟悉如何評估疫苗成效，並與臨床使用與疾病的防治做連結。最後將分門別類的介紹目前在不同物種上使用的疫苗，成為同學在基礎學科後與臨床課程銜接的橋樑。
