Biological systematics is an enduring and vital discipline, originating from morphology-based species identification and subsequent taxonomic descriptions. However, contemporary systematic research extends far beyond these traditional foundations. Driven by rapid advancements in high-resolution imaging technologies, alongside the integration of standardized molecular phylogenetics, species delimitation, spatial analysis, and phylogenetic comparative methods (PCMs), the field has experienced a quantum leap in both its scope and depth. This course spans phylogenetic reconstruction, species delimitation, spatial analysis, geometric morphometrics, quantitative morphological analysis, and evolutionary comparative methods. Blending theoretical foundations with hands-on practical sessions, students are expected to possess baseline knowledge in phylogenetics, statistics, and R programming.
