Course Description	This course is designed to strengthen students’ English public speaking competence and overall oral communication skills across a range of academic and professional contexts. The course places particular emphasis on mastering high-frequency lexical chunks and natural English intonation, which will be developed through structured practice and task-based activities. Students will examine the key elements that make speeches and presentations effective, as well as common pitfalls that undermine clarity and impact. Core topics include organizing speech content logically, designing clear and professional slides, describing charts and data accurately, and delivering ideas with appropriate stress, rhythm, and intonation. To improve pronunciation and fluency, students will engage in neo-shadowing practice to better approximate native speaker speech patterns. The course also addresses non-verbal communication skills such as eye contact and body language, along with strategies to reduce overuse of filler words. In addition, students will learn how to identify and internalize lexical chunks from authentic English audio and video materials in order to enhance listening skills and strengthen auditory memory. All course materials will be shared on iLearning, and various Youtube videos will be used for weekly discussions and activities. The Youtube video list will be announced at the beginning of the semester. No textbook purchase is required. Weekly recording assignments will be submitted via the university iLearning website. As a capstone requirement, each student will deliver a speech or presentation to demonstrate and apply the skills developed throughout the course.
