Course Description Academic Speaking and Writing develops students’ ability to communicate information, evidence, and arguments effectively in university contexts. The course is organized around three areas: data visualization, informative communication, and argumentative communication. Students will learn the vocabulary and grammatical structures needed to interpret visual data, explain academic concepts, and construct evidence-based arguments. Through the analysis of TED and TED-Ed talks, academic texts, infographics, and other authentic materials, students will examine how effective speakers organize ideas, support claims, engage audiences, and communicate complex information clearly.

本課程旨在培養學生在大學及專業情境中所需之學術英語口說與寫作能力,課程內容涵蓋三大主題:(一)資料視覺化(Data Visualization)、(二)資訊型口說與寫作(Speaking and Writing to Inform)、以及(三)申論型口說與寫作(Speaking and Writing to Argue)。課程以 TED 演講為主要學習素材,結合課堂討論與實作活動,引導學生逐步培養資料解讀、學術溝通、批判思考及公開發表能力。
