Course Description This course explores major themes in global economic history through films, using cinematic narratives as a lens to understand trade, industry, capitalism, inequality, and globalisation. By analysing selected movies alongside historical sources, students will examine how economic change shaped societies and power relations, while critically reflecting on the cultural representations of economic history.

Evaluation
The top of the grading scale is capped at 100.
The compositions are graded accordingly.
Attitude in class (10 percent of total grade)
The first assignment (30 percent of total grade)
The second assignment (30 percent of total grade)
The third assignment (30 percent of total grade)
A student can make any grade item worth extra credit by submitting additional film criticism.
A student who misses class is expected to present an excuse for every absence by email in two weeks or 10 points deducted off total grade for every absence.
