The course covers fundamental topics in Mechanics of Materials, including Stress, Strain, Mechanical properties, Axial rod, twisting shaft, bending beams, and definitions and transformation of Engineering stress and strain.

1. 建立材料力學之基本概念,包括應力、應變、變形及簡單結構之分析與設計,以作為後續結構學,鋼筋混凝土,鋼結構及土壤力學等科目之基礎。

This course instruct students to learn concepts and analysis skills related to the basic topics of Strength of Materials. The course contents cover definitions of stress, strain and deformation, and fundamental analysis and design concepts of linear members of simple structures. The course serves as the prerequisite course of the other advanced courses, such as Structural analysis, Reinforced concrete design, Steel structure design, soil mechanics, etc.
1.Capability in computation and analysis for civil engineering theory

3.Capability in project management, communication, team work, and problem-solving
4.Acknowledgements in contemporary issues, societal responsibilities, engineering ethics, and continuing learning for civil engineers
