Course Description	這門課程專為準備在英語授課環境中學習的非英語母語者所設計，課程旨在幫助學生發展在高等教育中所需的英語聽力及閱讀理解之學術技能，使他們能夠應對以英語為授課媒介的語言挑戰。授課重點在於閱讀和聆聽等學術技能的培養，學生將接觸各種文本，學習英語詞彙的構成元素、練習句法及篇章架構的理解、以及擷取文本重點、批判性分析資訊的技巧。本課程採分級教學，適合英語程度為CEFR B1~B2的學生修習。 This course is designed for non-native English speakers preparing to study in an English-taught environment. The course aims to help students develop the academic skills in English listening and reading comprehension required for higher education, enabling them to tackle the linguistic challenges of English as a medium of instruction. The focus of the course is on developing academic skills such as reading and listening. Students will engage with various texts, learn the elements of English vocabulary, practice understanding syntax and text structure, and develop skills in extracting key points from texts and critically analyzing information. The course is divided into levels and is suitable for students with English proficiency ranging from CEFR B1 to B2.

Week Course Content Week 1 Course overview Week 2 Unit 1; Introduction to academic culture features; Divide into groups Week 3 Unit 2; Practicing reading and listening skills: skimming, scanning, note-taking, and paraphrasing. Engaging in group discussion sessions. Week 4 Course review and quiz 1 Week 5 Unit 3; Analyzing text structure: identifying main ideas, supporting details, and conclusions. Recognizing language used to signal counter-arguments and rebuttals. Week 6 Unit 4; Developing synthesis skills: identify the writer/speaker’s logic and argumentation, reducing overlapping and contradictory information. Identifying cause-and-effect structures. Week 7 Unit 5; Enhancing reasoning abilities: inferring meaning, predicting content from texts, and distinguishing facts from assumptions. Evaluation
1.課堂參與及出席 Participation and Attendance: 10% (Please note that if a student misses more than 5 classes, each absence will result in a 3-point loss from the semester grade.) 2.作業及小考 Assignments and Quizzes: 30% 3.期中考/報告 Midterm Examination/presentation: 20% 4.後測 Post-test: 15% 5.期末考 Final Examination: 25%
