Course Description This course provides an introduction to the field of second language acquisition (SLA) which looks at the phenomenon of second language development. Since this field is multi-disciplinary in nature, this course will cover theories and research from linguistic, psychological, and sociocultural perspectives. Factors which influence how a person learns a second language, such as age, personality, motivation, attitude, learning style, strategies, language policy and the role of L1 will be introduced and discussed through this course.
