Course Description The course is mainly designed to help students to gain communication skills. It features some introductions to speaking strategies, such as introducing someone to someone, talking about the possibility, giving directions, giving suggestions, daily-life issues discussions, etc. Students are supposed to practice conversations with their partners, make short speeches, and deliver an oral presentations in class. Through oral training, the course aims at encouraging students to speak out loud and helping students to express their own ideas in English.

   02.Viewing multimedia materials related to industry and academia.
   03.Preparing presentations or reports related to industry and academia.
Students can choose any activities or workshops to participate in and then record their feedback to the activity or workshop in English in one minute or two.
Evaluation
1.Class Performance (including attendance, participation, and preparation): 20%
a. 4 points will be deducted for each absence, and students cannot be absent for the class more than four times, or they will get “0” from their class performance.
b. If students have to ask for a leave, they are supposed to inform the teacher that they cannot attend the class via email (writing down their student id number and name), by asking their classmates to tell the teacher, by telling the teacher in person in the following week, or leaving a private message on iLearning.
2.Pair Work: In-class Dialogue Practice & Discussions 40%
3.Midterm Exam:20% (Have a conversation with TA, Parsa, and the topic will be decided by TA Later)
4.Self-Directed Learning Recording:20% (Self-Introduction 10%+Speaking Practice 10%)
※Pair Work & Discussion: (40%)
1.Students are asked to work with their partner to do some in-class activities, or discussions about each topic and articles in class.
2.Students are expected to practice some conversations with their partners about each topic in class after each topic has been finished.

※Self-Directed Learning Recording: (20%)
1.English Self-Introduction: 10%
Students are supposed to do a self-introduction in English in 1 to 2 minutes with a PPT file.
They have to video their self-introduction and then upload their file onto iLearning 3.0 by December 30th before the midnight.
2.Speaking Practice: 10%
Students have to select one issue/topic that they are interested it and give one-minute or two-minute feedback to the topic/issue.
Students can sing an English song.
They can tell a story or tell a joke in English.
They can read out loud one short passage from the textbook.
They can have a conversation with their partner.
They can share anything in English with the teacher.
They are supposed to record/video their speaking practice and upload onto iLearning by June 9th before the midnight.
