Course Description |
This course builds on students’ existing knowledge of paragraph writing, aiming to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills in advanced academic composition. It provides step-by-step guidance in developing well-structured essays, including cause-effect, comparison, argument, problem-solution, and reaction essays. Students will gain a clear understanding of each essay type while exploring practical strategies for crafting strong thesis statements, organizing ideas, and presenting evidence effectively.
This semester, instruction will concentrate on two primary essay types: cause-effect and comparison. Please note that the focus of this course is on essay structure and academic writing strategies rather than on grammar instruction or reading comprehension. Students primarily seeking to improve their grammar or reading skills should consider whether this course aligns with their learning goals. |

3. All writing tasks must be completed during class sessions. These assignments are designed to reflect the content and objectives of the lectures and must be finished within the allotted time. Make-up opportunities for missed writing tasks will not be provided.
4. While specific requirements may vary, all writing tasks will be evaluated based on the organization of the writing, the development of ideas, the unity and coherence of the content, and the accuracy and appropriateness of language use.
