Course Description Freshman English is a one-year course of 4 credits, 2 credits for each semester. The course is conducted via lectures and group activities. Students will be exposed to a variety of listening, speaking, and reading situations to improve their English skills. The contents include listening and oral communication practice, online materials, reading and discussion of English articles, etc.

The primary goal of this course is to develop the English communicative competence of first-year undergraduate students. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to acquire: (1) the ability to express themselves in everyday conversations; (2) the ability to deliver a three-minute speech on a specific topic in English; (3) the ability to understand English spoken in a range of professional, social, and cultural settings; (4) the ability to read and understand articles across various subjects. All students are required to prepare lessons before class.
