Course Description Academic English: Listening and Reading, previously called Freshmen English, is designed to help students develop their academic English proficiency through focused practice in listening comprehension and reading skills. Through meaningful engagement with a variety of global, cultural, and real-world topics, students will listen to authentic audio materials and read a range of texts that reflect contemporary issues and everyday experiences. The course emphasizes building vocabulary, improving comprehension strategies, and strengthening students’ ability to identify main ideas, supporting details, and implied meanings. Through guided activities, group discussions, and interactive tasks, students will learn to process information effectively and respond thoughtfully in English. The course also aims to enhance students’ critical thinking skills as they interpret, analyze, and reflect on the ideas presented in the materials.
