Course Description |
Baculovirus expression system is one of the most important technics that developed from insect science. It has not only been loaded in textbook, but also become a useful tool in biotechnological industry. For example, in pharmaceutical industry, there are some famous products produced by this technic, such as insulin, cytokines, growth factors, etc. Recombinant protein expression is the necessary technology behind this growing industry. This course will introduce the different expression systems used for recombinant protein production, the latest technologies of protein display and protein purification, and the fundamentals of fermentation. The Laboratory section will include the cloning of target genes into the expression vectors, protein purification, characterizations of the expressive products, and developments of their applications. |
