| This two-semester course is designed to enhance students’ abilities in public speaking and debating in English. 1. Attendance is mandatory, and all absences must be excused with advance notice and for verifiable reasons. All leaves will negatively impact attendance scores.
2. Students’ performance will be determined by their participation and overall effort in class. Since this course focuses on training students to speak in public, students are expected to actively participate and engage in various activities during each class.
3. Students must deliver two individual speeches for informative and persuasive purposes, respectively. The length of these speeches will vary depending on the number of students enrolled. Students can choose their own topics but will not be able to make up any missed speeches.
4. Students must respond to two speeches given by their classmates, both in written and oral form. The evaluation of all speeches will be based on the structure of the speech, the development of the ideas, the smoothness of delivery, and the effectiveness of verbal and nonverbal communication.
