Course Description Fundamentals in Academic Writing in English is designed to bridge the gap between basic writing and formal academic discourse. This course aims to cultivate students' proficiency and confidence in addressing academic topics through the construction of unified, coherent, and well-supported essays. Students will master essential theoretical concepts, including thesis statements, topic sentences, paraphrasing, and summarizing, applying these techniques to develop three-paragraph-structured essays. Beyond linguistic accuracy, the curriculum emphasizes analytical and critical thinking, guiding students to organize ideas systematically using formal academic language. The course adopts a collaborative, recursive writing process, where students engage in small-group workshops to exchange constructive feedback. In addition to classroom hours, students are expected to invest two hours per week in independent work using both digital and print-based resources.
