除了農業和衛生害蟲、授粉昆蟲、天敵昆蟲和食用昆蟲外，昆蟲還在人類生活中扮演了多樣的角色，牠們是那麼常見，然而我們卻往往渾然不知。本課程專注於人類文化和昆蟲世界的交互關係，從人類世界角度探索昆蟲在大眾文化與人類世界中的角色和其有趣之處，揭開不同視角的「昆蟲」。課程一開始將介紹昆蟲對於人類經濟和健康安全的重要性，接著從古典詩詞、小說文學、文物藝術品、動漫卡通、電影戲劇、寵物等等多個面向來探討昆蟲長久被忽略的角色。
Beyond their well-known roles as agricultural and sanitary pests, pollinators, natural enemies, and edible resources, insects play a wide range of roles in human life. They are everywhere, yet their presence and significance often go unnoticed. This course focuses on the connections between human culture and the insect world, examining insects from a human-centered perspective to explore their roles and representations in popular culture and everyday life, and to reveal the fascinating and often overlooked dimensions of insects from multiple viewpoints. The course begins with an introduction to the importance of insects in relation to human economies and public health security. It then explores the long-neglected roles of insects across diverse cultural contexts, including classical poetry, literary works, historical artifacts and art, animation and comics, films and television, pet keeping, and other aspects of human society. |
