| 課程簡述 | 透過Kiyota&Jinji(2017)及Feenstra(2004)各章節貿易理論與頂尖實證資料的實際操作，配合STATA程式撰寫學習到進階貿易資料處理與實證技巧。另外，透過UNcomtrade貿易資料庫學習如何處理資料及在實證上的應用。 | ||||||||

Final Empirical project (17th ,18th week) There will be one final empirical project: The empirical project will have students analyze trade data to address issues raised in class and which are currently important issues in the field. It will be due two weeks before the final week of class. One should choose one topic from Feenstra (2004) as bellow linking agricultural trade issues. Ch2. The Heckscher-Ohlin Model Topics Covered: Heckscher-Ohlin-Samuelson (HOS) Model, Heckscher-Ohlin Theorem, Leontief’s Paradox, Heckscher-Ohlin-Vanck (HOV) Model, Partial Tests of the HOV Theorem, Complete Tests of the HOV Theorem, Modeling Different Technologies across Countries, Using Data on Different Technologies across Countries, Other Tests of Trade Ch4. Trade in Intermediate Inputs and Wages Topics Covered: Changes in Wages and Employment, Trade in Intermediate Inputs: A simple Model, Continuum of Inputs, Estimating the Relative Demand for Skilled Labor, Estimating the Zero-Profit Conditions, The Role of Nontraded Goods, Ch5. Increasing Returns and the Gravity Equation Topics Covered: Monopolistic Competition Model, Evidence from the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, The Gravity Equation, Empirical Applications of the Gravity Equation, Border Effects in the Gravity Model, Estimating the Gravity Equation, The Home Market Effect Ch7. Political Economy of Trdae policy [List of Some Possible agricultural trade issues for presentation] 1.Changing patterns of Taiwanese (or your country) exports and imports for selected agricultural products and their implications 2.How important is international agricultural trade in the Taiwanese economy? 3.Patterns and structure of Taiwanese tariff on major agricultural products and their implications 4.Case study of antidumping on Taiwanese products in other countries and on foreign products in Taiwan 5.Agricultural subsidies in Taiwan and patterns and trend of trade in agricultural products 6.Case study of other NTBs such as technical and administrative barriers in Taiwan 7.History of Taiwanese agricultural trade using trade data 8.Stance of Taiwan in the Doha Development Agenda negotiations 9.Recent trend of regionalism in East Asia (Taiwan joins TPP or not) 10.Taiwanese response to the recent trend of regionalism in East Asia |
