課程簡述	Graphic Novels has become more and more a genre that appears to the academia. This course aims to introduce several new developments in understanding the combination between illustrations and literary narratives. Throughout the session, students will learn strategies for visual and textual analysis. Students will also learn how to write about comics and how to tell stories through sequential art by reading critical essays on understanding comics, graphic novels, and a variety of illustrations , along with several primary texts: Maus, Watchmen, Through the Woods, and Ghost World…etc. Most sections will be spent reading, writing and discussing concepts and readings, while three sessions will be spent exploring various writing and discussing animation/film techniques and different styles of both in professional terms. Overall, students will draft a critical academic, college-level essays (3-5 typed pages) and several short creative pieces individually and in groups. One academic essay outline must be revised and one research paper/or creative graphic narratives will be expanded to a final project. Unlike the Part I, this second semester will focus on themes addressing Identity, Augmented Intelligence, Development of Voice/Visual conceptualisation.

The final grade for this course will be determined based on your performance in the following: Monthly Reflection Notes & Class Participation: 30% Oral Presentation: 40% Midterm Project Outline and take-home essay: 30%
