| 課程簡述 | This course offers a survey of European literature from the post-Renaissance period to the modern era, exploring how major literary works reflect and respond to shifting cultural values, historical conditions, and conceptions of human experience. Students engage with enduring themes—including faith, love, war, disease, and creativity—through key literary paradigms such as realism, modernism, and existentialism. Complementary study of European visual art and film further deepens understanding of the reciprocal relationship between literature and broader cultural expressions. | ||||||||

| 1. Midterm Assignment (20%) Choose one literary work from the course syllabus and imagine that you are the director of its cinematic adaptation. Your film has been officially selected for competition at one of the following major European film festivals: Berlinale, Festival de Cannes, or the Venice International Film Festival. Prepare a presentation introducing and promoting your film to the festival jury. Your presentation should articulate your adaptation concept, thematic focus, and aesthetic choices, and must include a designed film poster as part of the submission. 2. Final Assignment (20%) Create and present a PowerPoint presentation exploring a literary work selected from the reading list. The presentation should align with the course objectives and demonstrate thoughtful and sustained engagement with the chosen text. Students are expected to incorporate key passages or memorable quotations and to offer either a personal critical interpretation or a comparative analysis grounded in course themes. The presentation should follow the format of a term report, including a clear title slide, structured headings, and endnotes or references where appropriate. 3. In-Class Review Quizz (40%) Short, regular quizzes will help you stay on track with the readings and key ideas discussed in class. These quizzes focus on basic understanding of texts, themes, and concepts covered in lectures and discussions. 4. Class Participation (20%) Your participation matters. Being prepared, attending class regularly, and contributing to discussions and review activities will positively affect your grade. Unexcused absences will result in point deductions, while sustained and active participation will earn additional credit. Course Policies: •Attendance: Regular attendance is mandatory. Unexcused absences will negatively affect the final grade. •You are encouraged to use AI-assisted tools for image production, provided that any such use is properly acknowledged through endnotes, along with other relevant references. •Late Assignments: Late submissions will not be accepted unless prior arrangements have been approved by the instructor. •Academic Integrity: Academic honesty is essential.
