課程簡述	News articles and videos on a wide range of current affairs—such as global conflicts, climate change, the economy, and public health—will be discussed in class. Students are expected to review the assigned media before class and actively share their perspectives during discussions.

自主學習內容	01.參與專業論壇、講座、企業分享等產官學研相關交流活動 02.閱覽產業及學術相關多媒體資料 05.參與本校各單位舉辦之各類工作坊活動 1 participation in academic, industrial, and professional exchange events -- these activities expose students to professional contexts, helping them transition to advanced English. By observing experts, students learn to structure formal presentations and formulate critical questions. 2 review of industry and academic multimedia resources -- engaging with diverse multimedia builds a rich database of ideas for classroom discussions. It also provides authentic phonetic models to refine students’ pronunciation and intonation. 5 engagement in campus workshops and collaborative activities -- workshops offer low-anxiety settings that encourage peer interaction and practical problem-solving. This teamwork trains students in essential functional language, such as negotiating and clarifying ideas.

學習評量方式

1. class participation (50%)
2. midterm: spot dictation--students will take a spot dictation test to evaluate their listening precision and spelling accuracy. (20%)
3. final: panel discussion (20 min.)--in groups of 3~4, students will share their unique perspectives on a selected news topic. The focus is on fostering a natural, engaging conversation where each member expresses their own insights and responds to peers thoughtfully. (30%)
4. students are allowed a maximum of 6 hours of absence for any reason this semester. Arriving more than 20 minutes late or leaving more than 20 minutes early will be counted as a 1-hour absence.

Attendance penalties will be applied to the semester score as follows:
• 7 hours of absence: 7 points deducted
• 8 hours of absence: 10 points deducted
• 9 hours of absence: 15 points deducted
• 10 hours of absence: 20 points deducted (with a continuous 5-point deduction for each additional hour)
