Course Description The course emphasizes the integration of reading and listening as complementary academic skills. Students will learn to identify thesis statements, recognize main ideas and supporting details, interpret organizational structures, and make inferences across different types of texts. Listening activities will include audio and video materials created from the assigned readings, as well as additional topic-related multimedia resources, guiding students to listen for gist, key information, discourse markers, and academic vocabulary in context. Special attention will be given to recognizing and using collocations, formulaic expressions, and high-utility language chunks that enhance academic reading and listening comprehension. Additionally, students will work collaboratively in group presentations and discussion tasks that require them to synthesize ideas across multiple sources. By combining reading comprehension, strategic listening, and spoken communication, the course aims to strengthen students’ overall academic literacy.
