課程簡述 This course develops students’ academic English listening and reading abilities with an emphasis on effective comprehension. Building on the interactive foundation of English Communication and Expression, it focuses on helping students understand lectures, articles, and academic multimedia materials by identifying main ideas, analyzing argument structures, and recognizing supporting evidence, tone, and stance. Through guided in-class tasks, collaborative activities, and strategy reflection, students strengthen their real-time processing skills and develop sustainable strategies for academic study and lifelong English learning.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate effective comprehension of academic lectures, articles, and multimedia materials by identifying main ideas, argument structures, and supporting evidence.

2. Apply listening and reading strategies to process academic English in real time, including note-taking, inference-making, logical reasoning, and discourse analysis.

3. Engage in collaborative comprehension tasks and discussions that require critical thinking and interpretation of academic content.

4. Develop metacognitive awareness by reflecting on their listening and reading challenges and adjusting strategies accordingly.

5. Strengthen learner autonomy by practicing academic English beyond the classroom and building sustainable skills for future academic study.
